Have you ever tried to calculate weight watcher points?

Have you ever tried to calculate weight watcher points? I have - and I ‘m confused!

The other day I was doing some research into some weight loss programs, and in particular, Weight Watchers. I mean, it’s been around for AGES, so it’s got to have something going for it, right? One of the first things I noticed about the program was the existence of a weight watchers points calculator.

Little Professor Hand-held Calculator

Should you need this just to eat??

From what I’ve been able to gather, there’s a specific weight watchers point value to pretty much anything you can eat. Now on the one hand, this seems fantastic - everything’s all indexed, everything has a value. Should be easy to follow, right?

But then I got to thinking about it - and remembered some of the issues my girlfriends had when they were losing weight using this system.

First off, when you eat anything that’s packaged, you have to ensure that it’s completely done the right way (prepared according to package instructions). For those of us who grew up making “little changes” to the pre-packaged food we buy in order to make it more edible - this is a little difficult.

And for anything that’s not packaged, you need to know how to calculate weight for anything that needs to be portioned. You need to prepare meat cuts with all visible fat removed, and you need to make sure you have the appropriate grams or more dietary fiber per serving.

In short - there’s an obvious science there - but it’s confusing to say the least! All this effort just to calculate weight watcher points!

So how do you make this easier? Well the literature all points to a very interesting fact: those who attend weight watchers meetings lose three times more weight than those who don’t. And I have to say - this does make sense. After all, if you hang out with people who have similar goals, you’re more likely to achieve them. But it also says to me that there’s an unspoken need for people to have to learn more about how the system works. In short - how do you calculate weight watcher points.

Again - I have nothing against meetings per se. They’re obviously effective. But what happens if you live in an area that doesn’t have these meetings? Shouldn’t there be an easier way to lose the weight? Personally I think so - and I think a good place to start is with some good old fashioned common sense AND some information - like the information I have in my free report (the one at the top left of this page).

Because in my opinion - life’s too short to have to spend it all trying to calculate weight watcher points. Weight loss can be easier than that!

Sometimes Faster Might Be Better…

Weight Loss | Wednesday April 29 2009 11:59 am | Comments (0) Tags: , , ,

So I know my particular modus operandi is generally focussed on the healthy way to lose weight.  Slow and steady can win the race, after all…

However, there are time when “slow and steady” just doesn’t work.  Maybe you’re impatient, or maybe you’re just trying to finally get rid of that last, pain-in-the-backside 15 lbs!

In any case - sometimes we have to take matters into our own hands.  And I found a great way to help things out: Tri-Slim.  The best part is - it’s a free trial - all you have to pay is shipping and handling.  How easy is that?!?  Check the banner below for more details… you can’t beat the offer!

NEW YORK - NOVEMBER 14: Actress Marilu Henner...

Marilu Henner

So today is a bit of a random surfing day for me - and in my cyber-travels, I found some neat stuff about Marilu Henner.

Taxi (TV series)

Taxi

Now, if you’re thinking about this name and it’s ringing a bell and you’re not quite sure why?  Marilu Henner was the sultry taxi driver in the hit TV series, Taxi in the late 70’s and early 80’s.   Still not there?  She was also on the first round of Donald Trump’s Celebrity Apprentice a few years ago.

Anyway:  I’m not here to talk about any kind of celebrity gossip - there are enough of those sites out there already!  I wanted to talk about the way Marilu Henner’s been living her live over the past 20 years.  Because, here is a woman who looks FANTASTIC!  And she does it by following 10 very simple steps:

  1. Watch for chemicals in the foods you eat.
  2. Cut back on - and try to cut out - caffeine and nicotine.
  3. Replace processed sugar with natural alternatives.
  4. Limit - or eliminate - red meat.
  5. Avoid dairy products (anything made from the milk of another animal).
  6. Combine your foods for efficient digestion.
  7. Reduce the fats you eat.
  8. Exercise daily.
  9. Get enough sleep.
  10. Do everything with Gusto!

Now - I don’t know if I could live life quite to the standards that Marilu has set herself to - but it clearly has a great effect on her (let’s face it - I just love my ice cream too much to cut it out entirely!)!  So I think the bottom line I’m going to take away from this is:  if you want to look good on the outside, you’ve got to put good things into the inside.

But thanks for being my gorgeous inspiration today, Marilu Henner!  You’re amazing!  :-)

Michael Douglas Gets A Facelift?!

frameless

Michael Douglas = hottie!

I have to say I’m hal-shocked-half-not-shocked by the rumors going around right now talking about actor Michael Douglas having a facelift. Seriously - does a guy THIS handsome need any “work” done???

I mean - let’s face it - with that gorgeous wife he has, AND the fact that he’s an actor, there’s probably more than a little pressure in his life to “look good”.  But come ON, Michael Douglas - a facelift??

Sure you’re not the same guy you were back when you were one of my dream guys in Romancing The Stone.  But we knew those heady days of ridiculous handsomeness couldn’t last forever.  I just assumed you’d grow older - more ruggedly distinguished - like a lot of your Hollywood peers.

But - I have yet to see the actual “proof” - and have just heard the rumors.

And, as dismayed as I am to hear about this “alleged” surgury.  I also find I can’t blame him either.  After all - this IS a blog not only about losing weight - but looking good too!  Which just makes me think - at what point do we go too far?

Obviously, Michael Jackson took it too far (apparently in more areas than one - but that’s not for here!), as did Joan Rivers (she almost looks life-like!).  Melanie Griffiths took it too far, as did All-American cutiepie Meg Ryan.  But what about Dirty Dancing star Jennifer Grey?  Sure she got a nose job that (in my opinion) completely changed her face to the point where I can’t see “Baby” anymore… But was it so wrong?  Obviously she was unhappy with her nose - shouldn’t she have just as much right as the rest of us to make that change?

I guess I’m ultimately having a tough time casting judgement here - nor do I particularly want to.  I just hope that the star we know and love from Basic Instinct is still “there”.  Whatever the case, Michael Douglas, we still think you’re one heckuva fine actor!!
